C.S.4 - Preparations continue for the organization of the international event in honor of the famous Mantuan driver Tazio Nuvolari

06/24/2024

Mantova, 24th June 2024 – Considered one of the most awaited events of the season, the Gran Premio Nuvolari 2024 is finalizing its organization. The international regularity event reserved for historic cars has reached its 34th edition and will be held from 19th to 22nd September 2024, with the historic departure from the center of Mantua, birthplace of the great Tazio.

The Gran Premio Nuvolari was recently given the "Spirit of F.I.V.A., World Motoring Heritage" award by the "Federation Internationale Vehicules Anciens", granted every year to the ten best historic motoring events in the world. This prestigious recognition has led the organizers to set up an even more important 2024 edition. There are numerous new features this year: a renewed itinerary will allow competitors to enjoy the breathtaking roads of Lake Garda, Veneto and Trentino, as well as the usual beauties of Lombardy, Emilia Romagna, Marche and Tuscany.

The three days of competition will mark the different phases of the competition and include a total of 1,060 km of route, with the participation of 300 crews from all over the world.

During the Gran Premio Nuvolari the wonderful vintage cars, icons of the industrial culture of the 20th century, will pay homage to the legendary driver, exhibiting some of the most famous masterpieces of world automotive engineering. The event offers an extraordinary experience with the aim of promoting both tourism and the lifestyle linked to the world of motors and collecting, combining sporting competition with the pleasure of discovering fascinating and unique places.

As per tradition, Mantova Corse has selected exclusive hotels and facilities for each stage, to offer the crews unforgettable days.

1991 marked the Centenary of the birth of Tazio Nuvolari and the first re-enactment of the Gran Premio Nuvolari; this year the 34th edition organized by Mantova Corse will bring together in Mantua crews from all five continents, arriving with their roaring cars and with a single common intent: to celebrate the figure of the greatest driver of all time. The event will take place in compliance with F.I.A, F.I.V.A. and A.C.I. Sport regulations, with particular attention to the safety protocols of the national sports federation.

This year, too, the event can count on the support of important companies, such as Red Bull (Special Partner), Finservice Group and Wannenes (Official Partners), Locman–Italy (Timekeeper Official Partner) and Penske Cars (Automotive Partner); thanks to them, the Gran Premio Nuvolari will offer competitors a unique experience.

Gran Premio Nuvolari “Green”
The organization of the Gran Premio Nuvolari, sensitive to environmental sustainability, has been promoting an initiative aimed at safeguarding people and the territory since 2020. The GPN “Green” initiative involves the planting of trees in selected areas of the city, to offset the amount of carbon dioxide emitted by historic cars. From this year, a further activity is planned to limit the use of plastic bottles: ecological tritan water bottles will be distributed to each crew, all organizational staff and the media. Tritan is a new generation material, totally free of BPA (Bisphenol A), a substance found in traditional plastics which represents a potential risk to our health.

The 2024 path
The route of the Gran Premio Nuvolari represents the synthesis of many Italian excellences.

On Friday 20th September, as per tradition, the cars will depart from the historic Piazza Sordello, in the heart of Mantua. They will skirt Lake Garda, traveling along the roads of Monte Baldo, until reaching Riva del Garda, where they will stop for a lunch break at the Olivi beach. The stage will continue passing the Lessini Mountains and arriving in Verona for the stamp control in Piazza Bra. Then, the crews will continue towards Modena – passing through Castel d’Ario, Tazio’s hometown, and Revere, for the chrono checks – arriving in Piazza Grande. The evening will take place in the exclusive location of Villa Cavazza at Corte della Quadra, with an overnight stay in the emblematic city of the Motor Valley Fest.

On Saturday 21st September, the cars will face the second stage. Starting from the Novi Sad Park in Modena they will proceed towards Tuscany, Romagna and Marche. Stamp checks are scheduled in the center of Pistoia, in Piazza del Campo, Siena, in Piazza Grande, Arezzo. In the afternoon the crews will head towards the tests in Pieve Santo Stefano and the Viamaggio Pass. The arrival of the second stage will be in Rimini, in Piazza Tre Martiri. The day will end with the traditional Gala Dinner in honor of Tazio Nuvolari, in the wonderful Felliniesque location of the Grand Hotel in Rimini.

On Sunday 22nd September, the crews will return to Mantua. The final stage will be challenging, offering decisive tests to decide the final winner. Starting from Rimini, the competitors will face the timed trials in Meldola, then they’ll pass through Ordelaffi Square in Forlì, through Faenza, as guests of the renovated Formula 1 team "Racing Bulls", Lugo, Conselice and Argenta. The Estense Castle will be the venue for the Ferrara lunch break. It will then be the time for the return to Mantua, through the stamp controls in Poggio Rusco and Ostiglia. Finally, the arrival in Mantua, after 1,060 km, embraced by Piazza Sordello.
