Preparations are moving ahead for the 36th edition of the regularity event dedicated to the ‘Great Tazio.’

Mantua, January 2 2026 - Organization phase are underway for the 36th edition of the Gran Premio Nuvolari, the international regularity event reserved for historic cars, scheduled to take place from September 17 to 20 2026. Competitors will face a route marked by 100 timed trials and average-speed tests, driving along some of Italy’s most captivating roads, through historic squares and breathtaking landscapes. For 36 years, the goal has remained unchanged: to create an exclusive event for drivers and enthusiasts worthy of a man who wrote the history of world motorsport-the great Tazio Nuvolari.

From September 17 to 20 2026, 300 crews from all over the world will tackle a three-leg route totaling 1,100 km, crossing some of the most beautiful landscapes of Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Umbria, the Marche region, and the Republic of San Marino.

Conceived and organized by Mantova Corse since 1991, the event will be held in compliance with F.I.A., F.I.V.A., and A.C.I. Sport regulations, with particular attention to the safety protocols of the national sporting federation.

The participation of partners Red Bull, Gruppo Finservice, and Morbio Costruzioni has been confirmed. Thanks to their support, the Gran Premio Nuvolari will offer competitors an adrenaline-filled and exclusive experience, aiming to combine the pleasure of driving through unique locations with top-level sporting competition.

The 2026 program

Thursday,  September 17
The 300 crews will gather in Mantua. In the enchanting setting of Palazzo Te, administrative checks for drivers and technical scrutineering of the cars will take place. In the evening, the traditional welcome dinner will be held in Piazza Erbe, in the historic city center.

The Gran Premio Nuvolari route represents a synthesis of many Italian excellences.

Friday, September 18
As tradition dictates, the official start will take place from the historic Piazza Sordello, the heart of the Lombard city. The crews will cross the roads of the Po Valley, with a first check in Piazza dei Martiri in Carpi, then head into the Apennines to the Mugello Circuit. The route will continue through the Tuscan-Romagnan hills to the Imola Circuit, then toward the Adriatic coast, arriving in Cesenatico, where the first evocative evening will be held at the Grand Hotel da Vinci. Overnight stay in Rimini will follow.

Saturday, September 19
The second leg will see the route unfold from Rimini toward the Marche region and Umbria. Scheduled passages include Sant’Angelo in Vado and Città di Castello, up to the Magione Circuit, with a break at the Lamborghini Golf Club in Panicale, then transit through Cortona and arrival in Arezzo. In the afternoon, crews will drive along Tuscan roads, passing through Sansepolcro and over the Viamaggio Pass.

The Republic of San Marino will welcome the event with the final group of timed trials of the day and a stamp check in Piazza della Libertà, at the summit of Mount Titano. The finish of the second leg will be in Rimini, first with a parade through Piazza Tre Martiri and finally at Parco Fellini, where the cars will be parked overnight. In the evening, the traditional Gala Dinner in honor of Tazio Nuvolari will be held in the magnificent Fellini-inspired setting of the Grand Hotel Rimini.

Sunday, September 20
The crews will head north for the final day. The route will offer the last challenges, decisive in determining the overall winner. Departing from Rimini, competitors will face the feared timed trials of Meldola, then pass through Faenza as guests of the Formula 1 team “Racing Bulls”, followed by the Forlì street circuit and then Lugo di Romagna. In the oval of Piazza Ariostea, the Power Stage timed trials will take place, while Castello Estense will host the time control organized by the City of Ferrara. The final return to the Mantua area will follow. Lunch, set in the splendid surroundings of the Ducal Palace of Mantua, will be the last act before the triumphant finish within the welcoming walls of Piazza Sordello.

Entry Requirements and Deadlines

Entry applications, to be submitted exclusively through the website www.gpnuvolari.it, will be open from March 1 to July 31 2026. The 36th Gran Premio Nuvolari is open to historic cars built between 1919 and 1946 in the “Pre-War” division, between 1947 and 1976 in the “Classic” division, and between 1977 and 2000 in the “Youngtimer” division. In addition, 35 modern GT supercars built between 2001 and 2026 will be admitted in the “Gran Turismo” division.
