Vesco – Salvinelli crew triumphs at the 36th edition of the Gran Premio Nuvolari Three Fiat 508s take the podium

Mantua, Sunday, September 20, 2026 – The 36th edition of the Gran Premio Nuvolari came to a close today amid enthusiasm and applause. Andrea Vesco and Fabio Salvinelli, Italian crew no. 5, wrote a new page in the history of regularity rallying, claiming victory at the wheel of their stunning 1935 FIAT 508 S.
The two regularity rally drivers, Vesco and Salvinelli, said: “It was a fantastic rally. We travelled through breathtaking landscapes and, as always, enjoyed excellent hospitality. This is also why we look forward to taking part in the Gran Premio Nuvolari every year. It is our absolute favourite rally: the balance between the kilometres covered and the number of tests is perfect. This year, there was also a further sporting improvement, with the technical tests proving even more demanding and enjoyable than in previous editions.”
Second place went to crew no. 7, Mario Passanante and Riccardo Riboldi, driving a 1937 FIAT 508 C, while third place was secured by crew no. 6, Alberto Aliverti and Yuri Merlo, at the wheel of a 1937 Fiat 508 C.
Taking fourth place were the young regularity rally drivers Nicola Barcella and Simone Rossoni, crew no. 9, driving a 1938 Fiat 508 C. Fifth place went to Gianmario Fontanella and Annamaria Covelli, crew no. 2, in a 1927 Lancia Lambda Spider.
In the 2026 Coppa Nuvolari GT category, reserved for supercars built between 2001 and 2026, first place went to crew no. 417, Gasparini – Fabris, at the wheel of a 2024 Ferrari 296 GTS.
Thirty-six years after its first edition, the event continues to establish itself as a premier gathering, attracting a large and exceptionally high-calibre international field. This year 280 crews from around the world, representing countries including Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Uruguay, Argentina, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Great Britain, Australia, Japan, the United States, Israel, Austria, Brazil, Poland, Chile, Hungary, Portugal and France, came together for a unique event.
“Lombardy is Italy’s leading region for motorsport events, with the Gran Premio Nuvolari standing as one of its most prestigious symbols” said Federica Picchi, Undersecretary for Sport and Youth of the Lombardy Region. “The Gran Premio is not only a sporting event, but also a cultural occasion and a platform for synergies between public and private institutions, helping to promote local areas, communities and industrial culture. Through its calls for funding, the Lombardy Region strongly supports events such as this, where historic cars create a true travelling museum.”

The 36th modern re-enactment of the event, conceived and organised by Mantova Corse since 1991, takes place in compliance with F.I.A., F.I.V.A. and A.C.I. Sport regulations. The event is once again supported by its long-standing partners Red Bull, Gruppo Finservice, Morbio Costruzioni, Mosso Time Keeper, Porsche Penske, Cognizant, UFI Filters and Tenute Salvaterra. Thanks to their support, the Gran Premio Nuvolari offers participants an adrenaline-fuelled and memorable experience, combining the pleasure of driving through places of outstanding beauty with top-level sporting competition. The 36th Gran Premio Nuvolari is also held under the patronage of the Lombardy Region, the Municipalities of Mantua, Rimini, Arezzo, Forlì and Ferrara, the Province of Mantua, the Ministries of Tourism and Sport of the Republic of San Marino, and the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Carpi.

Gran Premio Nuvolari Green
The organisers of the Gran Premio Nuvolari have always demonstrated a strong commitment to environmental sustainability, undertaking a long-term programme aimed at protecting both people and the territory. The first “Gran Premio Nuvolari Green” initiative was launched in 2020 and involved planting trees to offset the amount of CO₂ generated by the circulation of historic cars. A further initiative has also been introduced to reduce the use of plastic bottles: reusable Tritan water bottles will be distributed to every crew, the entire organising staff and members of the media. During the start of the Mantua and Rimini legs, drinking-water dispensers will also be available to all participants.
Entry requirements and terms
The Gran Premio Nuvolari welcomes historic cars built between 1919 and 1946 in the "PreWar" division, between 1947 and 1976 in the "Classic" division, and between 1977 and 2000 in the "Youngtimer" division, as well as 35 modern super GT cars in the "Gran Turismo" division, built between 2001 and 2026.
