C.S. 7 - Great anticipation for the international historic car event in honor of Tazio Nuvolari

09/03/2025

Milan, September 3, 2025 – The countdown has begun for the Gran Premio Nuvolari, the most eagerly awaited international regularity rally for historic cars, scheduled from September 18th to 21st. This annual event pays tribute to Tazio Nuvolari, the legendary driver who became a legend in the history of international motorsport.

Four days dedicated to a deep passion for vintage motoring will enliven the cities along the “Gran Premio” route: gentleman drivers, behind the wheel of their vintage masterpieces, will journey through the most scenic landscapes and iconic roads of Northern and Central Italy.

300 teams from around the world will gather in Piazza Sordello, Mantova, the historic heart of the Gonzaga city, for what promises to be a thrilling edition full of new features. The event will once again blend sporting competition with high-end lifestyle tourism—an unmistakable hallmark of the Gran Premio Nuvolari.

This year’s revamped route, totaling 1,081 kilometers, will take competitors and their classic cars through the most captivating regions of Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Marche, Umbria, and the Republic of San Marino.

As per long-standing tradition of the Gran Premio Nuvolari, car number 1 will be symbolically assigned to the greatest driver of all time, the legendary Tazio Nuvolari. It will be followed by a selection of GT cars, modern Gran Turismo models, and then the 300 historic vehicles arriving from numerous countries across all continents. These cars represent 35 automobile manufacturers, ranging from Italian legends such as Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Lancia, Ferrari, and Fiat; to British icons like Jaguar, Aston Martin, Bentley, and Triumph; German powerhouses Mercedes, BMW, and Porsche; and the timeless French creations of Ettore Bugatti. This year, 85 pre-war vehicles (manufactured between 1923 and 1946) will take part in the event.

A significant presence will also come from numerous cars from the 1950s: more than 100 participants will take on the Gran Premio driving vehicles from iconic marques such as Ferrari, Jaguar, and Porsche.

Alongside these automotive gems, spectators will also be able to spot the top drivers in the category—from last year’s winner Andrea Vesco to Passanante, Belotti, Di Pietra, Beccalossi, Aliverti, Gamberini, Sangiovanni, Turelli, and Fontanella, as well as the standout Argentine drivers Tonconogy and Erejomovich, to name just a few. It will be a tightly contested battle, from the first to the very last of the event’s 100 timed trials.

For each stage of the route, Mantova Corse has selected exclusive hotels and venues, offering participants the pleasure of enjoying a truly unforgettable experience.

The event will be held in full compliance with F.I.A., F.I.V.A., and A.C.I. Sport regulations, with particular attention paid to the safety protocols of the national motorsport federation.

Once again this year, the event benefits from the support of major partners such as Red Bull, Finservice Group, Morbio Costruzioni, Penske Cars, Locman, Zero Time, and MC Stone, with its health supplement Cognizant to the race. Thanks to their contribution, the Gran Premio Nuvolari will offer competitors a unique experience, combining the pleasure of driving through extraordinary landscapes with the thrill of top-level sporting competition.

The 2025 Route
On Friday, September 19th, as tradition dictates, the 300 crews will set off from the historic Piazza Sordello, the heart of Mantova. They will cross the roads of the Po Valley, with stamp checkpoints in Suzzara, Reggiolo, and Campagnola Emilia, before reaching the Modena Autodrome. The route will then continue through the rolling hills of Emilia-Romagna towards the Adriatic Sea, featuring the city circuit of Forlì and concluding the day in Cesenatico, where the first evening event will be held at the Grand Hotel Da Vinci. Overnight accommodation will be in Rimini.

On Saturday, September 20th, the second stage will unfold from Rimini, weaving through Tuscany, Umbria, and the Marche regions. The route includes passages through Sant’Angelo in Vado, Sansepolcro, Monte San Savino, Piazza del Campo in Siena, and a break at Borgo Scopeto, nestled among the tall and sturdy cypress trees of the Sienese hills. In the afternoon, the crews will take on the winding roads of the Chianti region, crossing the Ponte a Buriano — famously captured by Leonardo da Vinci in his most celebrated masterpiece, the “Mona Lisa.” Following this, timed trials await at Pieve Santo Stefano, heading towards the Viamaggio Pass. The Republic of San Marino will welcome the event with the final set of timed trials of the day and a stamp check in Piazza della Libertà, perched atop Monte Titano. The finish of the second stage returns to Rimini, first passing through the parade at Piazza Tre Martiri and concluding with a stop at Parco Fellini, where the cars will rest overnight. In the evening, the traditional Gala Dinner will honor Tazio Nuvolari amid the splendid Fellini atmosphere of the Grand Hotel Rimini.

On Sunday, September 21st, the crews will head north. The route will reserve the final, decisive challenges that will crown the overall winner. Starting from Rimini, they will face the feared timed trials of Meldola, then proceed to Faenza, guests of the Formula 1 team “Racing Bulls”. The Estense Castle will host the time check in Ferrara, and shortly after, in the oval of Piazza Ariostea, the “Power Stage” - the spectacular trials broadcasted live on television - will take place. Next comes the return to Mantuan lands, passing through the stamp checks at Poggio Rusco, San Giacomo delle Segnate, and Bondanello. Lunch will be served in the stunning setting of the Polirone Abbey in San Benedetto Po, marking the final act before the triumphant arrival in Mantova, welcomed within the historic walls of Piazza Sordello.

Gran Premio Nuvolari Green
In 2020, the Gran Premio Nuvolari launched the “Gran Premio Nuvolari Green” initiative to promote environmental sustainability. Key actions include tree planting to offset the CO₂ emissions produced by the historic cars, and reducing plastic use through the distribution of eco-friendly Tritan water bottles to participants, staff, and media. Additionally, drinking water dispensers will be available at the starting points in Mantova and Rimini.

Entry Requirements and Registration Terms
The Gran Premio Nuvolari is open to vehicles manufactured between 1919 and 1981, provided they are equipped with one of the following: a F.I.V.A. passport, a F.I.A. Heritage fiche, A.S.I. homologation, an ACI Sport / ACI Storico fiche, or a certificate of registration with the A.A.V.S. historic register.
A special category called the “Coppa Nuvolari GT 2025” will also be organized, reserved for a maximum of 35 Gran Turismo cars built between 2001 and 2025, divided into three classes: “M1” (2000–2010) – “M2” (2011–2020) – “M3” (2021–2025). Eligible vehicles must be properly registered and roadworthy, equipped exclusively with road-approved tires. Vehicles prepared in racing configuration are not permitted.

In the classification process, no coefficient based on the vehicle's age will be applied. Starting numbers from 401 onwards will be assigned to entrants in this category, based on the age of the vehicles. Separate class and overall standings will be compiled, leading to the awarding of Category Prizes and the “Coppa Nuvolari GT 2025” trophy.
