Eberhard & Co. and the Gran Premio Nuvolari, a 23 year partnership celebrating the greatest racer of all time
A story of passion, time and challenges links the famous Eberhard & Co., the driver Tazio Nuvolari and the race which bears his name.

The prestigious Swiss watchmaker, which specialises in the production of highly technical watches, has dedicated a special collection to the greatest driver of all time and sponsors one of the most important events in the classic car calendar: the Gran Premio Nuvolari. Once again this year the watchmaker will be trackside as Official Partner and Timekeeper, in order to record the times of the cars competing in one of the most important vintage regularity races, a solid partnership which has lasted for 23 years.

The strong bond joining Eberhard & Co., which last year celebrated its 125th anniversary, and the most prestigious classic car competitions, inspired the ‘Tazio Nuvolari’ range of chronographs, a tribute to the legendary driver, who went down in history as the ‘Mantovano Volante’ (The Flying Mantuan): from the first chronograph which heralded this partnership, to the ‘Vanderbilt Cup’ edition and the limited edition ‘Grand Prix’, in which tradition and innovation are blended to perfection. At last year’s 120th anniversary of the birth of the great ‘Nivola’, as he was also known, the watchmaker launched the ‘Tazio Nuvolari Date’, the first model from the collection to include the date.

The ‘Tazio Nuvolari’ timepieces were created with a design philosophy which borrows from the instruments of vintage racing cars. The cockpit of the extraordinary vehicles in which the Flying Mantuan secured so many victories served as a source of inspiration for Eberhard technicians in creating functional and aesthetic solutions. It was essential for the instruments housed in the dashboard to be basic, clear, easy to read, precise and resistant to shocks and vibrations.
Mechanics, design and performance are important characteristics shared by motor racing and high level watchmaking.

And so 23 years after its debut on the track, the watchmaker reaffirms its strong connection to the world of speed and races in a retro style.
