The charm of the Gran Premio Nuvolari
The 26th edition of the Gran Premio Nuvolari, an international rally event reserved to historic cars that meet the F.I.A., F.I.V.A. and A.C.I. Sport standards, is scheduled between 15th and 18th September. Thanks to the sponsorship granted by Banca Generali and Eberhard & Co., who are Official Partners, it will be one of the most eagerly awaited events of the international rally season.
The Gran Premio will contribute to joining in the city of Mantua, which was awarded the title of Capital of Culture for the year 2016, the world of historic cars and enthusiasts of Tazio Nuvolari, the sportsman who left his indelible mark in the history of the XX century. In his 30-year-long career (from 1920 to 1950) Nuvolari was European Motorbike Champion riding a Bianchi motorbike (1925), European Racing Champion (the current Formula 1 World Championship) driving an Alfa Romeo in 1932, a winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1933 and of the Mille Miglia in 1930 and 1933. Besides the various titles he won, Nuvolari is famous for his almost incredible endeavours which helped the "Flying Mantuan" to enter the collective imagination and become a member of the Motor Sport Magazine Hall of Fame, the most exclusive club of distinguished pilots selected by the English magazine Motor Sport. Together with the great Formula 1 pilots such as Fangio, Moss, Clark, Stewart, Senna and the seven-time unbeaten champion Schumacher, Nuvolari is the only driver of the Grand Prix times who actively took part in it.
