It’s time to put the wheels on the most awaited event in the world of international regularity, the 31st edition of the Gran Premio Nuvolari, the most technical race for historic cars in Italy, which, from 17th to 19th September 2021 will bring in Mantua a multitude of classic enthusiasts that will come to celebrate the myth of the great “Nivola”, a legendary sportsman, who more than anyone else has marked the motoring history of the twentieth century.

In the year that marks the return to conviviality and sociability, the event records an important number of participants: 290 requests have been received, and 267 of them have been confirmed by the Official Commission, as a proof of the strong enthusiasm that surrounds what is considered one of the most beautiful races in the world.

"The Gran Premio Nuvolari is a race of timeless charm: a real open-air museum of classic cars that thanks to the contribution of the Lombardy Region also this year returns to excite the general public" - says Antonio Rossi, Undersecretary to the Presidency Sport, Olympics 2026, Major Events of the Lombardy Region. "We wanted to help the organizers of international events on the Lombardy territory after the difficult year they had to face because of the pandemic. The historic event will take place with departure from Piazza Sordello in Mantua in compliance with the anti Covid-19 regulations: it will mark the beginning of a real restart for all lovers of four wheels".

Many countries from all continents (Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, United States, Great Britain, Russia, Austria, Belgium, Uruguay, Argentina, Japan, Poland, Lebanon, Monte Carlo, San Marino) and 48 car manufacturers will be represented – to mention some: the Italian Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Lancia, Ferrari and Fiat; the British Jaguar, Aston Martin, Bentley and Triumph; the German Mercedes, BMW and Porsche; the French Bugatti. There will also be 93 pre-war cars.

The Gran Premio represents a unique opportunity to get a close look at these iconic vintage cars that have made the history of world motoring: those beauties will gather as usual in Piazza Sordello, in the heart of Mantua. The myth of the “Great Tazio” is always strong and present, thanks to the numerous fans who revive it year after year on occasion of the Gran Premio Nuvolari: tons of emotions are shared along an extraordinary journey on board of real masterpieces of history, mechanics and design.

Organized by the Scuderia Mantova Corse, that in 2021 celebrates 40 years of passionate and tireless activity, the regularity event is reserved for vintage cars of historical interest built until 1976, in accordance with the F.I.A, F.I.V.A., ACI Sport and ACI Storico regulations.

The event in honor of the "Great Tazio" will enjoy the patronages of the Lombardy Region, the Province of Mantua, the Municipalities of Mantua, Cesenatico, Rimini, Urbino, Arezzo, Cortona, Ferrara, San Benedetto Po and the Republic of San Marino.

The Gran Premio Nuvolari is traditionally organized with the contribution of prestigious sponsors: the “Main Partner” Red Bull, Austrian world leader in the field of energy drinks, the “Official Timekeeper Partner” TAG Heuer, famous Franco-Swiss watchmaking house since 1860, and the “Technical Partner” Group Finservice, important Italian company in the subsidized finance sector.

A relevant news this year will be the official presence of Ferrari Classiche, the historical branch of Ferrari Spa, present with its own stand during the days of the sporting and technical checks at Palazzo Te.

Another news is worth mentioning: also this year Mantova Corse is committed to the “GPN Green” initiative. As a demonstration of sensitivity to environmental protection and sustainability, at the end of the event tall trees will be planted in selected areas of Mantua in order to compensate the
environmental impact in terms of CO2 emissions that the circulation of historic cars cause.
