C.S. 11 - The second stage of the Gran Premio Nuvolari kicks off between Tuscany, Umbria, and Marche

Mantua, September 20 th 2025 - The first stage of the 35th edition of the Gran Premio Nuvolari, Italy's most technical international regularity rally for historic cars, ended yesterday evening in Cesenatico. Until tomorrow, 21st September, the event will bring together around 300 crews from all over the world to cover 1,081 km through the most fascinating landscapes of Lombardy, Emilia Romagna, Tuscany, Marche, Umbria and the Republic of San Marino.

Cesenatico marked the arrival of the first stage, which saw Vesco and Vesco in the lead driving their 1935 Fiat 508S, followed by Di Pietra and Di Pietra in second place in a 1938 Fiat 508C and the Argentine crew of Tonconogy and Tonconogy in third place driving a 1931 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Spider Zaga.

A brand-new feature this year is the ‘Coppa Nuvolari GT 2025’, reserved for Gran Turismo cars built between 2001 and 2025: this morning's provisional ranking sees the crew n.407 Smussi and Smussi in first place with their 2004 MG Tf.

After spending the night in Rimini, the crews set off this morning, Saturday 20 September, towards the extraordinary landscapes of Tuscany, Umbria and the Marche. The itinerary includes stops at Sant'Angelo in Vado, Sansepolcro, Monte San Savino, Piazza del Campo in Siena and a break at Borgo Scopeto, among the tall, slender cypress trees of the Sienese hills. In the afternoon, the crews will travel along the roads of Chianti, passing over the Ponte a Buriano bridge, immortalised by Leonardo Da Vinci in his most famous masterpiece, the “Mona Lisa”, then on to Pieve Santo Stefano, towards the Viamaggio pass. The Republic of San Marino will welcome the event with the last group of timed trials of the day and the stamp control in Piazza della Libertà, at the top of Monte Titano. The second stage will finish in Rimini, with the parade in Piazza Tre Martiri and finally the passage through Fellini Park, where the cars will stop for the night. In the evening, the traditional Gala Dinner in honour of Tazio Nuvolari will be held in the wonderful Fellini-inspired setting of the Grand Hotel Rimini.

Tomorrow, on Sunday, 21st September, the crews will head north. The route will present them with the final challenges, which will be decisive in determining the overall winner. Starting from Rimini, they will face the dreaded time trials in Meldola, then pass through Faenza, where they will be guests of the Formula 1 team “Racing Bulls”. The Castello Estense will be the venue for the time control that Ferrara will reserve for the competitors, immediately followed by the ‘Power Stage’, the live televised show trial, in the oval of Piazza Ariostea. It will then be time to return to Mantua, passing through the stamp controls of Poggio Rusco, San Giacomo delle Segnate and Bondanello. Lunch, in the setting of the Polirone Abbey in San Benedetto Po, will be the last act before the triumphant arrival in Mantua, within the hospitable walls of Piazza Sordello.

Organizers and partners
The rally, conceived and organised since 1991 by Mantova Corse, will be held in compliance with F.I.A., F.I.V.A., and A.C.I. Sport regulations, with particular attention paid to the safety protocols established by the national sports federation. Once again, the event is supported by prestigious companies such as Red Bull, Finservice Group, Morbio Costruzioni, Penske Cars, Locman, Zero Time, and MC Stone with its supplement Cognizant. Thanks to these partners, the Gran Premio Nuvolari is able to provide participants with a truly unique experience, blending the joy of scenic driving with the adrenaline of top-level motorsport competition.

Gran Premio Nuvolari Green
Since 2020, the Gran Premio Nuvolari has launched the “Gran Premio Nuvolari Green” initiative to promote environmental sustainability. Key actions include tree planting to offset CO₂ emissions from the historic vehicles, and the reduction of plastic waste through the distribution of eco-friendly tritan water bottles to participants, staff, and media. Additionally, drinking water dispensers will be available at the departure points in Mantua and Rimini.

Entry requirements and deadlines
The Gran Premio Nuvolari is open to vehicles manufactured from 1919 to 1981, equipped with a F.I.V.A. passport, F.I.A. Heritage fiche, A.S.I. homologation, ACI Sport / ACI Storico fiche, or a registration certificate from the A.A.V.S. historical register.

A special appendix called “Coppa Nuvolari GT 2025” was also held, open to a maximum of 35 Gran Turismo cars built between 2001 and 2025, divided into three categories: “M1” (2000–2010), “M2” (2011–2020), “M3” (2021–2025).
