C.S. 10 - The event celebrating the legend of Tazio Nuvolari kicks off today in Mantua

19.09.2025

Mantua, September 19th 2025 - The 35th edition of the Gran Premio Nuvolari, Italy's most technical international regularity event for historic cars, kicked off today. Until 21st September, it will bring together the elite of classic car enthusiasts and timelessly charming cars to pay tribute to the legend of “Grande Nivola”, the legendary sportsman who, more than any other, left his mark on the history of 20th-century motor racing.

The Gran Premio Nuvolari brings together around 300 teams from all over the world, who will cover a 1,075 km route through the most fascinating landscapes of Lombardy, Emilia Romagna, Tuscany, Marche, Umbria and the Republic of San Marino.

They all gathered today, Friday 19 September at 9 a.m., in the picturesque Piazza Sordello, in front of a large crowd of enthusiasts and curious onlookers. From there, the crews set off for the roads of the Po Valley, with stamp checks at the Iveco plants in Suzzara, Reggiolo and Campagnola Emilia, until they reached the Modena Autodrome, famous for its treacherous and unique technical characteristics, which will host timed trials, as well as a midday lunch break. The journey will then continue through the hills of Emilia-Romagna towards the Adriatic Sea, with the city circuit of Forlì and arrival in Cesenatico, where the first evening will be held at the Grand Hotel da Vinci. This will be followed by an overnight stay in Rimini.

Tomorrow, on Saturday, 20 September, the second stage will see the route wind its way from Rimini towards Tuscany, Umbria and the Marche. The route will pass through Sant'Angelo in Vado, Sansepolcro, Monte San Savino, Piazza del Campo in Siena and include a break in Borgo Scopeto, among the tall, slender cypress trees of the Sienese hills. In the afternoon, the crews will travel along the roads of Chianti, passing over the Ponte a Buriano bridge, immortalised by Leonardo Da Vinci in his most famous masterpiece, the “Mona Lisa”, then on to the trials in Pieve Santo Stefano, towards the Viamaggio pass. The Republic of San Marino will welcome the event with the last group of timed trials of the day and the stamp control in Piazza della Libertà, at the top of Monte Titano. The second stage will finish in Rimini, with the parade in Piazza Tre Martiri and finally the passage through Fellini Park, where the cars will stop for the night. In the evening, the traditional Gala Dinner in honour of Tazio Nuvolari will be held in the wonderful Fellini-inspired setting of the Grand Hotel Rimini.

On Sunday, 21st September, the crews will head north. The route will present them with the final challenges, which will be decisive in determining the overall winner. Starting from Rimini, they will face the dreaded time trials in Meldola, then pass through Faenza, where they will be guests of the Formula 1 team “Racing Bulls”. The Castello Estense will be the venue for the time control that Ferrara will reserve for the competitors, immediately followed by the ‘Power Stage’, the live televised show trial, in the oval of Piazza Ariostea. It will then be time to return to Mantua, passing through the stamp controls of Poggio Rusco, San Giacomo delle Segnate and Bondanello. Lunch, in the setting of the Polirone Abbey in San Benedetto Po, will be the last act before the triumphant arrival in Mantua, within the hospitable walls of Piazza Sordello.

Alongside these gem-like cars, it will also be possible to recognise the best drivers in the category, from Andrea Vesco, winner of the last edition in Passanante, to Belotti, Di Pietra, Beccalossi, Aliverti, Gamberini, Sangiovanni, Turelli and Fontanella, together with top Argentine drivers Tonconogy and Erejomovich, to name but a few. It will be a close battle from the first to the last of the 100 timed trials.
