The 2023 route
This year, for the first time, the
sporting checks
of Thursday 14th September will be held at
Palazzo della Ragione
in Piazza delle Erbe, while the
technical checks
will take place in Piazza Sordello. Afterwards, an
evening prologue
will take place through the streets of Mantua, along a route of about 10 km. It will be the greeting of the Town of Mantua to the participants from all over the world.
On Friday 15th September
, the 300 participating cars will leave for the first stage of the event from the historic Piazza Sordello, in the heart of Tazio Nuvolari's birthplace. They will cross the roads of the Po Valley, until the arrival at the
Modena Racetrack
; then, the lunch break will be held at the ancient Acetaia Leonardi. The event will then continue on the Emilia-Romagna hills towards the Adriatic Sea, with the arrival in Cesenatico. The first stage will end at the suggestive location of the
Grand Hotel da Vinci
. The overnight stay will be in Rimini.
The route of this first stage will be subject to possible variations due to the natural disaster that hit these territories hard last spring.
On
Saturday 16th September
, the second stage.
A new route will take the competitors from Rimini to Marche, Umbria and Tuscany
. Before the lunch break at Borgo Scopeto, the passages from Piazza Duomo in Arezzo and from Piazza del Campo in Siena are foreseen, among the iconic cypresses of the Sienese hills. In the afternoon, the crews will travel the Chianti roads, then they will face the tests of Pieve Santo Stefano, towards the Viamaggio pass. The Republic of San Marino will welcome the event with the last set of timed trials of the day, and the stamp control in Piazza della Libertà, at the top of Monte Titano. The arrival of the second stage is expected in Rimini, parading up to Piazza Tre Martiri. The day will end with the traditional Gala Dinner in honor of Tazio Nuvolari, in the marvelous Fellinian setting of the
Grand Hotel of Rimini
.
On Sunday 17th September
the crews will head back to Mantua. The route will reserve them the last challenges, decisive for decreeing the final winner. Starting from Rimini, the gentlemen drivers will test themselves in the dreaded time trials of Meldola, then they’ll pass through Faenza, as guests of the
Alpha Tauri Formula 1 Team
, and through
Imola
, inside the famous
Enzo and Dino Ferrari Formula 1 Racetrack
. A very crowded Piazza Ariostea will be the splendid reward that Ferrara will reserve for the competitors. Finally: the return to Mantua, only after the last stamp checks in Bondeno, Poggio Rusco and Revere. Piazza Sordello will applaud the return of the competitors, after 1,100 km.
