Engines are warming up for the international automotive event that celebrates the legendary Tazio Nuvolari every year

Milan, 12th September 2023 - Little time left until the 33rd edition of the Gran Premio Nuvolari, the international regularity event for historic cars which from 14th to 17th September will bring together in Mantua, in Piazza Sordello, gentlemen drivers from all over the world with their fascinating vintage cars to honor the memory of the "Great Nivola", a timeless icon and legendary sportsman who wrote some of the most important pages in the history of motoring of the 20th century.

This year's edition will be even more exciting and full of novelties. Along a route of 1,130 km through the wonderful central-northern regions of Italy and their evocative views, the crews will cross Lombardy, Emilia Romagna, Marche, Tuscany and Umbria.

As per a consolidated thirty-year tradition, the first race number will symbolically be reserved for the greatest driver of all time, the legendary Tazio Nuvolari. The caravan will be led by a group of modern GTs, followed by 275 historic cars from all continents, representing 49 car manufacturers - from the Italian Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Lancia, Ferrari and Fiat, to the English Jaguar, Aston Martin, Bentley and Triumph, to the German Mercedes, BMW and Porsche, up to the French pursang designed by Ettore Bugatti. This year there will be more than 100 pre-war cars (manufactured from 1932 to 1939) taking part in the event.

The presence of numerous cars from the 1950s is also significant: there will be 150 participants who will race with Ferrari, Jaguar and Porsche cars from those years.

Together with the precious cars, it will also be possible to meet the best top drivers in the category, from Alberto Aliverti, winner of the last edition of GP Nuvolari, to Vesco, Passanante, Turelli, Fontanella, Di Pietra and Sisti, just to name a few. It will also be an opportunity to celebrate the return of Alessandro Gamberini, who has just recovered from a major accident in the summer of 2022.

The sporting legend of the Great Tazio is always strong and present, and relives every year with renewed passion through the Gran Premio, thanks to the participants who share the emotions of an extraordinary journey aboard true masterpieces of history, mechanics and design.

This 33rd edition features the confirmed partners Red Bull, Banca Generali, Finservice Group, to which are added the collaborations with the auction house Wannenes (official partner), Locman-Italy (Time keeper and Official Partner) and Penske Cars (Automotive partner).

Organized by Mantova Corse, the event will take place in compliance with F.I.A, F.I.V.A., A.S.I. and A.C.I. Sport regulations, with particular attention to the safety protocols launched by national and international sports

With sensitivity towards environmental protection, the "Gran Premio Nuvolari Green" initiative will be proposed again this year, an important ecological action carried out with the patronage of the Municipality

of Mantua: the environmental impact caused by the circulation of historic cars - in terms of CO2 emissions - will be compensated by planting tall trees in selected areas of the town.

Gran Premio Nuvolari 2023: the details of the 33rd edition:

Period of acceptance of the cars: from 1919 until 1976, plus a group of modern GT cars.

Programme: This year, for the first time, the pre-race sporting checks on Thursday 14th September will be held at the Palazzo della Ragione in Piazza delle Erbe in Mantua, and the technical checks in Piazza Sordello. In the evening, the night prologue will take place through the streets of Mantua, along a route of approximately 14 km. It will be the city's greeting for the participants in the event.

On Friday 15th September the cars will depart from the heart of the city of Tazio, from the historic Piazza Sordello. They will cross the roads of the Po Valley, until arriving at the Autodromo of Modena; then they will have lunch at the ancient Acetaia Leonardi. They will continue the tour on the Emilia-Romagna hills, proceeding towards the Adriatic Sea until arriving in Cesenatico. The first stage will end at the suggestive location of the Grand Hotel da Vinci. An overnight stay in Rimini will follow. The route of this first stage will be subject to possible variations due to the natural disaster that hit these territories hard last spring.

On Saturday 16th September, the second stage. A new route from Rimini towards the Marche, Umbria and Tuscany. Before the lunch break in Borgo Scopeto, among the cypresses of the Sienese hill, the cars will pass from from Piazza Duomo in Arezzo and from Piazza del Campo in Siena. In the afternoon the crews will travel the roads of Chianti, then face the trials of Pieve Santo Stefano, towards the Viamaggio pass. The Republic of San Marino will welcome the event with the last group of timed tests of the day, and the stamp control in Piazza della Libertà, on Monte Titano. The arrival of the second stage is scheduled in Rimini, in Piazza Tre Martiri. The day will end with the traditional Gala Dinner in honor of Tazio Nuvolari in the wonderful Fellini-esque setting of the Grand Hotel in Rimini.

On Sunday 17th September the crews will return towards Mantua. The path will reserve to them the last challenges, decisive to decide the final winner. Starting from Rimini, the gentlemen drivers will compete in the dreaded timed trials in Meldola, then they will pass from Faenza, as guests of the Alpha Tauri F1 Racing Team, and from the Imola F1 Racetrack named after Enzo and Dino Ferrari. Piazza Ariostea will applaud the competitors in Ferrara. The crews will then face the stamp controls of Conselice, Argenta, Poggio Rusco and Revere. Finally, the arrival in Mantua, after 1,130 km, in Piazza Sordello.
