Mantova, 3rd of June 2021

On 5th of June 1981 the Scuderia Mantova Corse was born, thanks to a group of 20-years-old boys motorsport enthusiasts. It has been 40 years since that day, and today the same guys, with the same passion of yesterday, are preparing to organize the 31st edition of Gran Premio Nuvolari.

A very special edition is foreseen for the internationally famous regularity event reserved to historic cars, organized in honour of the great “Nivola”. A very heartfelt edition, especially after the lockdown due to Covid-19, that has put at rest the entire sports competition sector.

The weekend of 16-17-18-19 September 2021, the world of classic cars enthusiasts will arrive to Mantua, birthplace of Tazio Nuvolari, to honour his memory and his sports records, regaining possession of the territory, of its glorious roots and of the beauty of being together.

The 31st edition of the Gran Premio Nuvolari will be full of suggestive historical locations. It’s a great opportunity to travel around the wonderful area of central-northern Italy and to live the fascinating atmosphere of this region, full of history and tradition.

To ensure prestige and support to the event, our three sponsors are confirmed: Red Bull, the Austrian world leader in the field of energy drinks, Tag Heuer, the Franco/Swiss watchmaking house, and the Italian Group Finservice, important company in the subsidized finance sector.
The program 2021

The 16th of September, the technical and sport checks will be held in Palazzo Te, Mantua, with an appendix also in the early morning of Friday 17th of September.

At 11.00 a.m. of 17th of September: the departure from Piazza Sordello. The first day the crews will cross the suggestive streets of Emilia, until the arrival at the Modena Racetrack. Here there will be the lunch break and the timed trials. The itinerary will then continue over the Apennines, through the Raticosa and Futa passes, until the Mugello Circuit, the famous Tuscan Formula 1 racetrack. The route until the Adriatic See will take the “traveling museum” to Cesenatico, for the refreshing and prestigious dinner at Grand Hotel Leonardo da Vinci*****. The overnight stay in Rimini will follow.

On Saturday, September 18th, the second stage and the toughest day of the Gran Premio Nuvolari, the crews will experience a largely renewed route: from Rimini to Urbino, then the Bocca Serriola pass, Città di Castello, up to Magione at the Umbria Racetrack, the Trasimeno Lake and the break at Golf Club Lamborghini in Panicale. Stamp controls will be performed in Castiglione del Lago, Cortona and Piazza Grande in Arezzo. In the afternoon, the crews will drive along the roads of the Viamaggio towards the Adriatic, with the media tests in Sant'Agata Feltria. The Republic of San Marino will welcome the parade with the last set of time trials for the day, and with the stamp control in Piazza della Libertà, at the apex of Mount Titano. The arrival of the second stage will be in Rimini, on the runway of Piazza Tre Martiri. The evening will reserve to the competitors the traditional Gala Dinner in honour of Tazio Nuvolari, in the wonderful Fellinian setting of the Grand Hotel di Rimini*****.

On Sunday 19th September, the crews will return to Mantua. The route will make the competitors face the last challenges, the decisive ones to decree the winner. Starting from Rimini, they will face the feared time trials of Meldola, then they’ll arrive in Faenza, as guests of the Formula 1 team Alpha Tauri. The arena of Piazza Ariostea will be the splendid location that Ferrara will offer to competitors from all over the world. Then it will be time to return to Mantua, only after the stamp controls in Bondeno, Poggio Rusco, San Giacomo, Bondanello and the break for lunch in the majestic abbey of San Benedetto Po. In the end, Piazza Sordello will embrace again the competitors for the farewell parade.

The race will take place in compliance with the F.I.A, F.I.V.A. and A.C.I. Sport Regulations, and will cover a total of about 1,100 km between the central-northern Italian beauties, crossing the suggestive landscapes of Lombardy, Emilia Romagna, Marche, Umbria and Tuscany.
