09/22/2024

The 34th edition of the Gran Premio Nuvolari ended today with the victory of the Italian crew no. 51 formed by the couple Andrea Vesco - Roberto Vesco, winners of nine Gran Premi Nuvolari, at the wheel of a splendid 1935 FIAT 508 S. The top drivers fought to the last, demonstrating concentration, coolness and technical expertise in what was a race fought to the last hundredth of a second alongside the best Italian and foreign regulars, characterised by some changes to the route during the third stage in Emilia-Romagna, due to the bad weather wave of the past few days that caused extensive damage.

This edition saw the participation of seven female crews and thirteen under-30s, the latter demonstrating that a generational change is beginning to take place in the historical motoring enthusiasts and gentleman drivers who will be the drivers of tomorrow aboard the cars of yesterday.

‘It was a very beautiful and challenging race; we fought until the very end and won this coveted prize for the tenth time; we have already won the Millemiglia and the GP Nuvolari was one additional goal this year and we achieved both. The adversaries were very good, we had fun, and we were also very committed, because we couldn't make any mistakes, neither we nor our most bitter adversaries, the Argentinians, who came second. It was my father who passed on this passion and competitive spirit to me, and I started racing at a very early age,' says Andrea Vesco.

Second place was occupied by crew no. 32 of Tonconogy-Ruffini, husband and wife from Argentina, who had already won second place on the Mantua podium in 2017 at the wheel of a 1931 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS Zagato Spider with which they competed as if in a duel to the hundredth of a second with the winning pair.
Third place went to crew no. 9 at the wheel of a 1927 Lancia Lambda Spyder made up of the Fontanella-Covelli duo, two close-knit and experienced drivers from Piacenza.

In fourth place was the Erejomovich-Garcea duo (no. 21), in a 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 SS, and fifth place went to the young under-30 Barcella-Rossoni crew no. 79. driving a 1938 FIAT 508 C.

The event was well attended, with 300 crews from all over the world selected by a special commission, testifying to the enthusiasm generated by what is considered one of the most beautiful races in the world. Gran Premio Nuvolari Green
The organization of the Gran Premio Nuvolari has always been sensitive to environmental sustainability, embarking for years on a path aimed at safeguarding people and the territory. The first “Gran Premio Nuvolari Green” initiative was developed in 2020 and included the planting of trees to offset the amount of CO2 emitted by the circulation of historic cars. Starting this year, an additional activity is planned to limit the use of plastic bottles: ecological tritan water bottles will be distributed to each crew, all organizational staff and the media. During the stage starts in Mantua, Modena and Rimini, drinking water dispensers will be placed for use by all participants.
