C.S.8 - The 34th edition of the event celebrating the Mantuan Volante that made motoring history is on the starting blocks 300 crews from all over the world and 85 pre-war cars

09/19/2024

The 34th edition of the Gran Premio Nuvolari, the regular international event for historic cars, will start on 19 September from Piazza Sordello in Mantua, where the elite of gentlemen drivers from all over the world will gather with the most iconic cars of all time to pay homage to the myth of the ‘Great Nivola’, the legendary driver who made motor racing history in the 20th century, in an edition that promises to be unique and full of novelties.

The event will be attended by 300 crews from the five continents who have passed the unquestionable judgement of the special Commission in charge of checking the participation requirements and the technical characteristics of each car.

In keeping with the established 30-year tradition of the Gran Premio Nuvolari, number 1 will be symbolically reserved for the greatest driver of all time, the legendary Tazio Nuvolari. Then a representation of GTs, modern Gran Turismos, the 300 historic cars from the numerous countries representing all continents (Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Greece, Luxembourg, Holland, Hungary, United States, Great Britain, Austria, Belgium, Uruguay, Argentina, Japan, Monte Carlo, Republic of San Marino, Russia, Sweden, Mexico, Australia) and the 35 car manufacturers competing from the Italian Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Lancia, Ferrari and Fiat, to the British Jaguar, Aston Martin, Bentley and Triumph, from the German Mercedes, BMW and Porsche to the French pursangs by Ettore Bugatti. This year, 85 pre-war cars (manufactured between 1923 and 1946) will take part in the event.

Relevant is the presence of numerous cars from the 1950s; there will be more than 100 participants running in the Grand Prix with cars from Ferrari, Jaguar and Porsche.

Together with the jewel cars, it will also be possible to recognise the best top drivers in the category, from last year's winner Andrea Vesco to Turelli, Passanante, Fontanella, Di Pietra, Patron, Gamberini, along with top Argentinean drivers Tonconogy and Erejomovich, to name but a few. It will be a close battle, from the first to the last of the 110 time trials.
This edition sees the confirmed presence of partners Red Bull, Finservice Group, Locman, Penske Cars and Wannenes, together with the new entry Closebax SD Shampoo, thanks to which Gran Premio Nuvolari will offer competitors a unique experience, with the aim of combining the pleasure of driving in unique locations with the adrenaline rush of top-level sporting competition.

The event, conceived and organised since 1991 by Mantova Corse, will take place in compliance with F.I.A, F.I.V.A. and A.C.I. Sport regulations, with particular attention to the safety protocols of the National Sports Federation.

The ‘Spirit of F.I.V.A., World Motoring Heritage’ prize, awarded by the F.I.V.A. (Federation Internationale Vehicules Anciens) to the ten best historic motor racing events in the world was recently presented to the organisers of Gran Premio Nuvolari. This prestigious award has prompted the organisers to prepare an even more important 2024 edition, aimed at maximum participant satisfaction.

Gran Premio Nuvolari Green
The organisation of Gran Premio Nuvolari has always been sensitive to environmental sustainability, undertaking for years a path aimed at protecting people and the territory. The first ‘Gran Premio Nuvolari Green’ initiative was developed in 2020 and involved the planting of trees to compensate the amount of CO2 emitted by the circulation of historic cars. From this year on, a further activity is planned to limit the use of plastic bottles: each crew, all organising staff and media will be given tritan ecological water bottles. During the starting phases in Mantua, Modena and Rimini, drinking water dispensers will be positioned for the use of all participants.
